Volunteer

Volunteers play a vital role with Micah Projects. Their contributions provide us with valuable resources to build community and break social isolation. 

  • + - Volunteer at Micah Projects

    Volunteers allow us to better support people in our community who are vulnerable, marginalised, or experiencing domestic violence and/or experiencing homelessness.

    Volunteering activities which may suit individuals:

    • hairdressing services 2/3 hours per week
    • assist with child minding to enable parents to attend various workshops
    • regularly purchase items to make up crisis clothing packs with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) funding
    • sort toiletries and clothing into various care/crisis packs, as required
    • ad hoc event assistance as required
    • minute taking for team meetings
    • general administration, including photocopying, typing, scanning and filing
    • support person to engage with participants at various activities
    • food preparation for Wednesday Community Meals at Brisbane Common Ground (BCG), 2pm to 5pm, 12 week seasonal commitment
    • participating in the Wednesday Community Meals at BCG, 5.30pm to 8pm, 12 week seasonal commitment
    • ad hoc mail outs as required.

    Volunteering activities which may suit groups include:

    • food preparation for the Wednesday Community Meals at Brisbane Common Ground (BCG), 2pm to 5pm, 12 week seasonal commitment
    • participating in the Wednesday Community Meals at BCG, 5.30pm to 8pm, 12 week seasonal commitment
    • collect then sort, new and donated clothing into Crisis Clothing Packs for Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS)
    • collect then sort, toiletries into hygiene packs for men, women and children
    • running BBQs for community events
    • assisting at the Jane Street Community Garden.
